This notice explains what personal information Watch the Dot Ltd collects through this website, why, and what your rights are. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Who we are
Watch the Dot Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, number 08787289. Registered office: City Business Park, Somerset Place, Plymouth, Devon, PL3 4BB. We are the controller of the personal information described here. Questions about privacy: info@watchthedot.com.
What we collect
- When you send an enquiry: your name, email address, organisation, role, website and the answers and message you give us.
- When you book a call or training session: the details you enter in our booking system (TidyCal), and payment details handled by its payment provider. We don’t see your card details.
- When you browse: our web server keeps standard logs (IP address, browser and pages requested) for security and to fix problems. They are kept for a short time and not used to identify you.
How we use it, and why we’re allowed to
- To reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to provide our services. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and then performing that contract.
- To keep the website secure and working. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
We don’t sell your information, use it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to run the business: our website and email hosting, Google Workspace (email and calendar), TidyCal (bookings), WHMCS (client portal and billing) and FreeAgent (accounts). Each acts on our instructions and protects your information. Some are based outside the UK, in which case appropriate safeguards are in place.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don’t lead to work are deleted after 12 months. If you become a client, we keep records for as long as you are a client and then for six years, as accounting and tax law requires.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it. There’s no charge. Email info@watchthedot.com and we’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
