Merge Menus

Combine two WordPress menus in one click. Merge Menus copies every item from one menu into the menu you’re editing, instead of rebuilding it by hand.

Combining two menus in the WordPress menu editor means re-adding every page, link and category one at a time. Merge Menus does it in one go: pick a menu, press a button, and all of its items are copied into the menu you’re editing.

It’s handy when you’re reorganising a site’s navigation, building a seasonal menu from an existing one, or combining a header and footer menu.

How to use it

  1. Install and activate Merge Menus from Plugins → Add New (search for “Merge Menus”).
  2. Open Appearance → Menus and select the menu you want to add items to.
  3. Find the Merge Menus box on the left, under the boxes for pages and links. If it isn’t there, open Screen Options at the top of the screen and tick Merge Menus.
  4. Choose the menu to copy from and press Merge Menu. Its items are added to your menu.
  5. Arrange the items if you need to, then press Save Menu.
