How a care plan works

  1. Every week we update your site in a scheduled maintenance session, after checking it’s backed up, and check it afterwards.
  2. Critical security updates don’t wait for the weekly session: they’re applied within two working days.
  3. If an update causes a problem, we roll it back to the last working version, then tell you what happened and quote for any changes your site needs to use the new version.
  4. You send requests through the client portal. We reply by the next working day, with a plan and a date.

Need something fixed or changed?

Requests go through the client portal, and urgent ones jump the queue. Small jobs are included; anything bigger is quoted before we start. How support works

Quick help, included

Every plan includes the small things, so you never get a bill for a quick question:

  • Rolling back an update that causes a problem
  • Password resets and login help
  • Adding, changing or removing users
  • “How do I…?” questions
  • Checking a problem you’ve spotted
  • Advice on plugins, and on whether an email about your site is genuine
  • Small changes that take under 15 minutes
  • Domain and DNS changes for domains we manage

Within fair use. Anything bigger is quoted before we start.

Not ready for a plan?

We help with one-off jobs too, whether or not you’re on a plan. And if you’re not sure what state your site is in, a WordPress audit tells you, with a clear list of what to do next.

Building a new site?

We build new WordPress sites with our design partner. They lead on design and run the project; Watch the Dot does the technical build. When the site launches, it moves straight onto a care plan with the people who built it.

Questions

Which plan do I need?

A brochure site with no shop: Web Basics. A site that takes orders, bookings or payments, or relies on premium plugins: Business Basics. If you’d like your hosting looked after too: Business Essentials. Not sure? Ask us.

Can you take over a site someone else built?

Yes, that’s how most care plans start. If anything needs putting right first, we’ll tell you and quote before we begin.

Do you work with WooCommerce?

Yes. Online shops are a good fit for Business Basics: WooCommerce and its extensions are updated together, and we check the checkout still works afterwards.

What happens if an update breaks something?

We roll the update back to the last working version, so your site is back to normal, and that’s included. If a plugin or theme has changed in a way that means your site needs work to use the new version, we’ll explain and quote for it.

Do I need hosting from you?

Only with Business Essentials, where it’s included. Web Basics and Business Basics work wherever your site is hosted.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes: £22, £60 or £150 a month instead of the annual price. Plans still run for 12 months.

Not sure where to start?

Most new clients start with a WordPress audit: a fixed-price review of your site’s health, security, hosting and editing set-up, with a written report and a call to talk it through. If we go on to work together, the cost is credited against your care plan.
